At Burton Teddy Bears Nursery School, we believe that a well-rounded education includes more than just academic success. We believe that our children should:
1: Have a strong sense of identity and feel that they belong within a community.
2: Be connected with and contribute to their world.
3: Have a strong sense of wellbeing and become independent.
4. Be confident and involved learners.
5: Become effective communicators and have a strong social connection within their community.
These curriculum goals will provide a strong foundation for future learning.
In following this framework. all professionals that work with young people have a common set of principles and commit to deliver quality early education and childcare experiences to all children.
The EYFS framework outlines seven areas of learning and development
These are:
Personal, Social and Emotional development
Communication and Language
Physical Development
Understanding of the world
Mathematics
Literacy
Creative development
After the EYFS amended the statutory framework in 2021 to not be prescriptive to a particular teaching approach, we had the autonomy of choosing what style of curriculum we wanted to deliver for our children. We felt that The Birth to Five and also, Belonging, Being and Becoming (The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia 2022) fits Burton Teddy Bears style of teaching best. Therefore, our five curriculum goals have aligned with these principles.
